This component has become obsolete and is no longer supported. Arsalan has kindly developed a replacement component that serves the same purpose and can be downloaded from https://www.opensource-socialnetwork.org/component/view/7256/favicons-generator. If you are satisfied with your current favicon, you can leave the component installed and enabled. But in case you are looking for a new favicon, please remove this component along with my Favicon component and use Arsalan's one.

II. Purpose and Usage

In conjunction with Favicons, this component enables your visitors to install your site as a Progressive Web Application (PWA) on their devices. The icon of your site then appears on the homescreen or desktop and can be comfortably accessed this way. The desktop variants of Chrome and Edge are displaying an extra 'install' icon you can click onto, while on mobile devices a message will appear at the bottom of the device.

Please note that Firefox discontinued supporting PWAs on PCs, a possible workaround is reported at https://techdows.com/2021/09/install-pwas-firefox-desktop.html
